September 19th, 2023 – Hansen Technologies (ASX:HSN), a leading global provider of software and services to the communications, energy and water industries, is pleased to announce that Hansen Catalog, the enterprise product and technical service catalog application, has attained ‘Ready For ODA’ status from TM Forum, the leading industry body for the global communications sector – the first time ever that this status has been conferred on vendors by TM Forum. With this certification, Hansen Catalog cements its position as the premiere catalog for communications services providers (CSPs), and the foundation for creating commercial agility.
With CSPs in the digital era under increasing demands to create products and services more rapidly and in a cost-effective way than ever before, ODA (Open Digital Architecture) has emerged as a solution to ensuring long-term business agility, through the seamless interconnection of products. It is a standardised cloud-native enterprise architecture blueprint for CSPs, vendors and system integrators – accelerating the delivery of next-generation connectivity. ODA replaces traditional operations and business support systems (OSS/BSS) with a new approach to building software for the communications industry, opening a market for standardised, cloud-native software components.
By TM Forum standards, a software product is considered ‘Ready For ODA’ if it is based on a clear set of defined architecture principles. The company’s product team must have extensive ODA competence, evidenced by training certifications and adherence to compliance with ODA standards – ensuring that it is prioritised in the product strategy and roadmap. Furthermore, Open APIs must be certified, deployed and in operational use.
The criteria that determines ‘Ready For ODA’ are assessed jointly by the member company and a senior expert from the TM Forum Office of the CTO. The assessment uses the ODA Success Framework, an evidence-based evaluation that uses six key dimensions that are necessary for delivering successful business outcomes with ODA. It is designed to help software companies assess their products’ readiness and identifies gaps.
Brian Cappellani, Vice President for Technology Strategy at Hansen, commented: “Attaining ‘Ready For ODA’ status from the TM Forum demonstrates Hansen’s commitment to providing CSPs with industry-leading, standards-based solutions that enable true transformation. Many of our customers specify and expect conformance to TM Forum standards, and we strongly believe that in the era of digital transformation and 5G deployment, this development will further enhance the versatility of Hansen Catalog. Hansen Catalog has been a major lynchpin in establishing true commercial agility and capitalising on future 5G, IoT and digital marketplace service opportunities – creating new and robust revenue streams into the future.”
George Glass, Chief Technology Officer at TM Forum, commented: “Hansen’s attainment of the ‘Ready For ODA’ status from TM Forum – and being among only a handful of enterprises to do so, for the first time ever – reinforces their mantel of thought leadership within our organisation. By adopting conformance towards our ODA standards, Hansen is reaffirming its commitment to ensuring access to next-generation connectivity, services and solutions for the CSP of today and tomorrow. In a new era of commerce, CSPs need to rapidly construct and deliver new digital enterprise-grade services for communities and business ecosystems alike – more rapidly than ever before, in real-time and in a cost-optimised fashion. The adoption of ODA greatly helps in addressing these complex challenges.”
A part of the Hansen Suite for Communications, Technology & Media, Hansen Catalog enables businesses to capitalise on new opportunities, and meet the product innovation and business operations challenges presented by 5G, virtualisation and cloud technology. It makes product, service and resource data available across your operations, and also offers rich product lifecycle management capabilities, to effectively manage a CSP’s offerings. Hansen Catalog is a key driver in enabling commercial agility by accelerating product innovation and increasing revenue from new business models, supporting core and new digital products – while also enabling improved accuracy and automation in sales and fulfilment, in conjunction with other Hansen Suite applications.
