Enhancing our Local Parks and Waterways- ACTS OF IMPACT
Cleaning up a local park, beach or waterway are small acts that together can have significant impacts. Across each year, Hansen individuals and teams around the world look for opportunities where they can positively enhance their local surrounds.
Two of the many examples where the Hansen team has participated include:
Mesna River Cleanup – Our Lillehammer, Norway team armed themselves with gloves, garbage bags and good spirits to collect broken glass, cans, bottles, plastic, paper wrappings, metal pieces, cigarette butts and plastic piping. They started at the river’s base and worked upstream, filling one very large bag with waste, which was then delivered to a local waste station for sorting and recycling.
Helping Green Melbourne on National Tree Day – In late July each year members of our Melbourne, Australia team and their families meet at Ruffey Lake and join the broader community to help plant new grasses, trees and shrubs. Depending on the weather, the community add between 1,300 and 2,000 new plants to the parkland each year. And each year, our people visit the areas we helped plant in earlier years, taking heart in the growth of these new green spaces.
